Product Detail
Melamine tableware decals (also known as melamine/imitation porcelain decals) are special decorative decals designed specifically for melamine tableware. They are permanently fused to the surface of the tableware through high temperature and high pressure, and the pattern is sealed in the resin layer, making them wear-resistant and colorfast.
Production Process
1. Pattern design → Plate making and printing;
2. Baking at 70–100℃ to evaporate the binder, brushing on a melamine resin coating and then drying;
3. Cutting the decal into the mold, and hot-pressing it with melamine powder at approximately 160℃ under high temperature and pressure for 20–35 seconds, so that the resin layer and the melamine body are completely fused;
4. Grinding, quality inspection, and packaging.
Two things to avoid when using melamine tableware
For safety and durability, please note the following when using melamine tableware:
l Do not use steel wool to clean it:
This will scratch the protective layer on the surface, causing the pattern to wear away, stains to accumulate, and increasing the risk of harmful substances migrating.
l Do not microwave it:
Melamine tableware is not heat-resistant and should not be placed in a microwave or oven to avoid deformation or the release of harmful substances.
Key Standards and Safety
Must comply with GB 4806.7 Food Contact Melamine Resin Standard. Ink and resin must not contain excessive heavy metals (lead, cadmium), and formaldehyde migration must meet standards. Qualified products must have patterns completely sealed inside, and will not fade or peel off when rubbed.
FAQ
Question1：Are melamine transfer paper and regular water transfer/decal paper the same?
No. Melamine transfer paper is a special high-temperature, high-pressure transfer paper with a melamine resin layer on the surface. During hot pressing, it fuses with melamine tableware. Regular water transfer and ceramic transfer paper cannot be used with melamine, as it will cause bubbling, delamination, and color fading.
Question2：Can melamine decals be used on ceramic, plastic, or stainless steel?
No. They are only suitable for melamine tableware. They will not fuse with other materials and will peel off.
Question3：Do I need to peel off the paper after pressing it?
No. The paper carbonizes and falls off at high temperatures, and the design melts directly onto the surface of the tableware.
Question4：Can the decals be customized in size and pattern?
Yes, they can be cut to size according to the shape of the tableware mold.
Question5：Can pressed tableware be put in a dishwasher or microwave?
Melamine tableware is not microwaveable; qualified decorative paper is durable and can be put in a dishwasher.
