Main Components

 Melamine-formaldehyde resin:

Formed by the reaction and polymerization of melamine and formaldehyde under certain conditions, it is the main component of melamine tableware raw material powder and determines the basic properties of the powder.

Fillers:

Typically, α-cellulose, such as wood pulp cellulose, is used as a filler to improve the molding properties of the resin and enhance the strength and heat resistance of the finished product.

Other additives:

These include colorants and curing agents. Colorants are used to impart various colors to the tableware, while curing agents promote cross-linking reactions in the resin during molding, forming a stable network structure.

Tableware Molding Process

Melamine tableware is primarily manufactured through compression molding:
(1) Weighing: A measured amount of melamine powder is placed into a metal mold.
(2) Heating and Pressurizing: The mold is closed under high temperature (approximately 140-160°C) and high pressure (approximately 20-30 MPa).
(3) Curing: Under heat and pressure, the powder melts and flows to fill the mold, while a complete curing and cross-linking reaction occurs.
(4) Demolding: After curing, the mold is opened, and the product is removed.
(5) Post-processing: Trimming, grinding, polishing, and inspection

Summary

Melamine tableware raw material powder is a carefully designed composite material. Properly manufactured melamine tableware using qualified A1/A5 materials is safe and durable under normal use conditions

FAQ

Question1:What exactly is melamine tableware made of? Is it plastic?
Yes, it's a thermosetting plastic, professionally known as melamine-formaldehyde resin. However, please note that it's completely different from ordinary plastic bags (polyethylene) and other plastics. After being cured under high temperature and pressure, it forms a stable and rigid network structure, possessing a ceramic-like texture and properties.

Question2:Are melamine tableware heat-resistant? What's the highest temperature they can withstand?
Excellent heat resistance, but within a certain range.
(1)Pure melamine: Can withstand temperatures from -30℃ to 120℃ for extended periods. Short-term contact with boiling water (100℃) is fine.
(2)Modified melamine: Lower temperature resistance, approximately 80℃.
(3)Note: This refers to the temperature of the food being served, not the temperature of the heating environment (such as open flames or oven temperatures, which are much higher).

Question3:Is it possible to customize the color?
Absolutely! We support color customization. You can provide the Pantone color code for your desired color, or refer to our color swatches. Alternatively, you can send us a sample of the tableware in the color you want, and we will produce the same color based on the sample.

Question4:What is the production time?
For a 20ft container of solid color products, the production time is around 10-15 days. For colored products, it will take a little longer.

Question5:Can melamine tableware be put in a sterilizer or dishwasher?
(1)Sterilizer: It can be placed in a UV or ozone sterilizer. Do not place it in a high-temperature infrared sterilizer, as continuous high temperatures (>120℃) will cause deformation, aging, and the release of harmful substances.
(2)Dishwasher: It can be placed on the lower rack and washed using a medium-low water temperature program (recommended <70℃). Avoid using strong rinsing agents and keep it away from heating elements.
