Melamine Sink and Wash Basin | Moulded to Your Design – PANLONG

A wash basin is the part of a building that takes the most abuse and gets the least attention until it fails. In hotels, staff canteens, schools and canteen kitchens, a basin is knocked by trolleys, hit by buckets and cleaned with whatever is to hand. That is the case for pressing one from melamine rather than buying a brittle one.

    Product Overview

A wash basin is the part of a building that takes the most abuse and gets the least attention until it fails. In hotels, staff canteens, schools and canteen kitchens, a basin is knocked by trolleys, hit by buckets and cleaned with whatever is to hand. That is the case for pressing one from melamine rather than buying a brittle one
We mould melamine sinks and wash basins on the same compound family and the same presses we build for tableware production, and we make the moulds ourselves. So the basin you receive and the mould that made it come from one supplier, which matters when the next size, or the next shape, is needed.

Where a Moulded Basin Makes Sense

A moulded basin is chosen for places where the wash area takes knocks and where replacement cost matters more than the look of the fixture
1.Hospitality and catering back-of-house, where basins are hit by trolleys and stacked goods
2.Staff and school wash areas, where fixtures are used hard and cleaned aggressively
3.Kitchens and utility areas in climates where a fixture that chips is a recurring problem
4.Repeat-fit projects where the same basin is needed in quantity, over several phases

Grades and Finishes We Press Basins In

The compound grade is chosen the same way it is for tableware: by what the surface has to survive, and whether it comes into contact with food
A5 (MMC) for kitchen and food-contact basins, where the surface has to hold up to hot water and cleaning
A1 (UMC) for utility and wash-area basins away from food contact
Standard white, or a colour matched to a physical reference, a pantone number or a finished part
Colour and grade are held from batch to batch, which is what makes a phased project possible

Working From Your Drawing or Sample

A basin is a moulded part, so the project starts with the shape rather than with a stock list
Send a drawing or a sample of the basin you want reproduced, with the waste and tap positions marked
We confirm what is mouldable against the press and the mould we would cut, and say so before quoting
The mould is cut in our own mould shop, so a change to the shape is a conversation, not a new supplier
Trial parts come to you for approval before the production run is released

Installing and Living With a Moulded Basin

Most of the practical questions come after the basin is on site, and they are worth settling at the drawing stage
1.Wall-hung and inset configurations behave differently; the fixing method follows the drawing
2.Waste and overflow positions are set in the mould, so they cannot be moved after it is cut
3.Cleaning is the same routine as for melamine tableware - mild detergent rather than abrasive pads
4.A basin that takes a knock usually stays in service, which is the reason it was specified in the first place

    FAQ

Q1: What determines the size of a moulded basin?
A1:Your design, and what the press and the mould can carry. We work from your drawing rather than from a fixed list, so send the outline, the depth and the waste and tap positions and we will confirm what is achievable - and tell you if a dimension needs to change before anything is cut

Q2: Which compound grade is used for a basin?
A2:A5 (MMC) where the basin is in a kitchen or comes into contact with food, because the surface has to hold up to hot water and repeated cleaning. A1 (UMC) where it is a utility or wash-area basin with no food contact. Both press on the same equipment, so the choice is about service conditions rather than tooling

Q3: Can the basin colour be held across repeat orders?
A3:Yes. The colour is produced to your reference - a physical sample, a pantone number or a finished part - and held from batch to batch, which is what makes it possible to order the same basin again in a later project phase. Colour charts and sample pieces are dispatched for approval before bulk production

Q4: How should a melamine basin be cleaned?
A4:Mild detergent and a soft cloth or sponge, the same routine as for melamine tableware. Abrasive powders and scouring pads dull the surface over time, and that is true of any moulded melamine part. Where a cleaning chemical is already specified by the site, send us the name and we will tell you whether it is safe on the surface

Q5: Do you supply the tooling as well as the basin?
A5:Yes. The tooling is cut in our own mould shop, which is the practical advantage here: if the basin shape changes, or a second size is added three phases later, it is the same supplier and the same drawing on file rather than a new toolmaker to brief
