Melamine Raw Material MMC UMC A1 A5 Melamine Formaldehyde Resin Powder
Product Detail
Production process (compression molding)
1.Weighing: A certain amount of raw material powder is mixed with additives such as colorant.
2.Filling: The mixed powder is filled into a metal mold of a specific shape.
3.Heating and Pressurizing: Under high temperature (approximately 150-180°C) and high pressure (thousands to tens of thousands of pounds), the powder melts, flows, and fills the mold.
4.Curing Reaction: Under heat and pressure, melamine and formaldehyde undergo further cross-linking reaction, forming a three-dimensional network structure of polymer. This process is called "curing."
5.Demolding: After the reaction is complete, the mold is opened, and the formed tableware is removed.

Key concern: Security
• Formaldehyde Migration:
1.Source: If the curing reaction is incomplete or inferior raw materials are used, residual free formaldehyde can migrate into food when exposed to high temperatures or acidic foods.
2.Hazards: Formaldehyde is a recognized carcinogen and is highly irritating to the eyes and respiratory tract. Long-term exposure to low doses is harmful to health.
• Melamine Migration:
1.Source: Under high temperature or strong acid conditions, polymer chains may degrade, leading to the precipitation of melamine monomers.
Hazards: Long-term excessive intake of melamine may damage the kidneys (e.g., causing kidney stones).
FAQ
Question1:What is the production principle of melamine tableware?
The raw material powder is filled into a mold. Under high temperature (about 150-180°C) and high pressure, the powder melts, flows and undergoes a complete cross-linking and solidification reaction to form a stable solid with a three-dimensional network structure. This process is irreversible.
Question2:Are melamine tableware safe?
Safety depends on the quality of raw materials and usage conditions.
Qualified products:
Tableware produced using food-grade raw material powder and following standardized processes has a very stable polymer structure. Under normal use (such as holding room temperature or warm food), the migration of harmful substances (free formaldehyde, melamine monomer) is extremely low, far below national safety standards, and is therefore safe.
Question3:Can melamine tableware be heated in a microwave, oven, or steamer?
Absolutely not!
High temperatures are the number one killer of melamine tableware. Microwaving, steaming, and baking at high temperatures can cause the resin to decompose, potentially leading to deformation and bubbling of the tableware, and significantly increasing the risk of formaldehyde and melamine leaching.
Question4:What are the advantages and disadvantages of melamine tableware compared to ceramic tableware?
• Advantages: Lightweight, drop-resistant, not easily broken, various styles, good heat insulation.
• Disadvantages: Not resistant to high temperatures, cannot be microwaved, and there are safety risks associated with inferior products (ceramic products do not have this problem).
Question5:What are the precautions for storing raw material powder?
It should be stored in a sealed container in a dry and ventilated place, avoiding moisture (humidity ≤60%) and direct sunlight. The shelf life is usually 6-12 months.
