Production Process

1.Printing and drying: 

First, print the pattern on the base paper using offset or screen printing. Then, bake it in an oven at 70-100℃ to allow the binder in the ink to fully evaporate and prevent the pattern from smudging later.

2.Resin application and drying:

Apply melamine-formaldehyde resin to the printed decals. The resin concentration should be adjusted so that it can be completely dissolved in water at 95℃. After application, dry the decals again to enhance the fusion between the decals and the melamine tableware.

3.Cutting and shaping: 

Cutting is done according to the shape of the tableware and the pattern. Small batches can be cut by hand, while large batches can be produced by cutting machines to improve efficiency. For circular tableware such as cups, the decorative paper needs to be spliced together. This can be done by hand with glue or by using a special bonding machine without glue.

4.High-temperature fusion:

 First, a solid-color melamine tableware blank is made by high-pressure molding. Then, the decal is manually or mechanically attached to the designated position on the blank. Under high temperature (about 150-180℃) and high pressure, the ink layer and adhesive layer of the decal melt and undergo a cross-linking reaction with the surface of the melamine tableware, permanently fusing together.

Question1：What are melamine tableware decals?

You can think of them as "high-temperature tattoo stickers," where a colored design printed on a carrier film is permanently transferred to the surface of the tableware through a heat-pressing process, and then protected by a layer of transparent melamine resin.

Question2：Are decorative paper cutlery safe? Could they be toxic?

Safety depends on the quality of the ink and the manufacturing process.

Safe products: 

These use food-contact grade inks and employ a standard hot-pressing process to completely seal the design beneath a transparent melamine layer. These products meet national safety standards (such as the GB 4806 series) and are safe.

Question3：How to tell if patterned paper tableware is safe?

Remember the most crucial trick: "Feel the surface."

Safe (Qualified): 

Touch the patterned area; it should feel very smooth, indistinguishable from the surrounding unpatterned areas, without any bumps or roughness. The pattern should appear "embedded" inside the tableware.

Question4：Can tableware with decorative wrapping paper be microwaved?

Absolutely not!

No matter how good the wrapping paper is, all melamine tableware must never be placed in a microwave oven. High temperatures will cause changes in the structure of the melamine resin itself, which may lead to deformation, cracking, and accelerate the release of harmful substances.

Question5：Can this kind of tableware be washed in a dishwasher?

It is not recommended.

The prolonged high-temperature water and strong detergents used in dishwashers will accelerate wear and tear on the surface of the tableware, potentially affecting the durability of the decals and the overall lifespan of the tableware. Hand washing is a safer option.
