Melamine tableware decals, also known as imitation porcelain decals, are printed materials specifically designed for decorating the surface of melamine tableware. They allow melamine tableware to display a variety of exquisite patterns while ensuring that the patterns adhere tightly to the tableware body and are not easily peeled off.
Production Process
l Printing the Design: First, the designed pattern is printed on long-fiber base paper using offset or screen printing.
l Preliminary Baking: The printed design is placed in an oven and baked at 70℃-100℃ to evaporate the binder in the ink.
l Resin Coating: A layer of melamine-formaldehyde resin is brushed onto the dried design. This resin layer is crucial for bonding the design to the tableware body.
l Second Drying: The resin-coated design is dried again to produce usable melamine design paper.
l Fusion Molding: In the molding process of melamine tableware, the design paper is placed on the semi-finished (plain) tableware and subjected to high temperature and pressure treatment for 20-35 seconds to completely fuse the design with the tableware. This is usually followed by steps such as dusting with glazing powder and polishing to make the product surface more glossy and beautiful.
Maintenance
l Melamine-printed tableware should not be microwaved (the resin and melamine are not microwave resistant);
l Clean with a soft cloth, avoiding steel wool to scratch the ink layer.
