A1 A5 Colorful Food Grade Melamine Moulding Powder For Making Bowl And Tray

Melamine powder is not a single chemical substance, but a premixed composite powder mainly composed of the following ingredients:

    Core Ingredients

Melamine powder is not a single chemical substance, but a premixed composite powder mainly composed of the following ingredients:

    1. Main resin: melamine formaldehyde resin

This is the core component, accounting for the vast majority of the total. It is a high molecular weight polymer prepolymer produced by the polycondensation reaction of melamine and formaldehyde under specific conditions.

    2. Filler

The most commonly used filler is alpha-cellulose, which is derived from refined wood pulp or cotton pulp.

    3. Colorants

Usually inorganic pigments, they are required to be resistant to high temperatures, have stable color, and not migrate after curing.

Function: Provide various colors, such as pure white, ivory white, and various color and pattern effects.

    4. curing agent

A small amount is added to promote and regulate the curing reaction of the resin during heating to ensure that the product is fully cured and has stable performance.

    5. Lubricant

Such as zinc stearate, its function is to improve the demoulding performance and prevent the formed tableware from sticking to the mold.

Classification and grade of raw powder

Melamine powder is mainly divided into several grades according to its performance and appearance:

    A1 material/A5 material——Highest quality

High pure whiteness, good toughness, non-toxic and odorless, in line with food grade standards.

Used to manufacture high-end melamine tableware, exported to Europe, America and other demanding markets.

    B1 material——Medium quality

The whiteness and toughness are slightly lower than that of A material, but still within the safety standard.

Used to manufacture ordinary tableware or hotel supplies that do not require very high color.

    ● C material / substandard material——Lowest quality

May be made from recycled or industrial-grade materials, may be yellowish or grayish in color, and may have an unpleasant odor.

It must not be used in food contact equipment! Commonly used in the manufacture of buttons, electrical accessories, mahjong and other industrial products.

    Summary and Reminders

    Safety first:

Ensure that the melamine powder used in the production of tableware is Class A material that complies with national (such as GB 4806.6-2016) and international (such as EU 10/2011, FDA) food contact material standards.

    ● The source is key:

the quality and safety of the finished product is largely determined by the raw material powder. Using inferior raw material powder will not produce safe and qualified tableware.

    Consumer choice:

When purchasing melamine tableware, please choose a reputable brand and do not buy products that are abnormally cheap, have an odor, or are of the wrong color.

    FAQ

Question1What exactly is melamine powder? Is it safe?

The full name of melamine powder is "melamine formaldehyde molding powder", which is a premixed raw material for thermosetting plastics.

    ● Ingredients: Mainly composed of melamine formaldehyde resin (polymer prepolymer of melamine and formaldehyde), food grade cellulose filler, non-toxic colorant and a small amount of additives.

Safety: Finished melamine tableware is safe. Under the correct heat-pressing process, the raw material powder completely solidifies, forming a stable, non-toxic three-dimensional network structure that is insoluble in water. Under normal use conditions (avoid microwaves or direct heating with open flames), no harmful substances are released.

Question2Why can't melamine tableware be put into the microwave?

Melamine tableware is a thermosetting plastic that is resistant to high temperatures but does not absorb microwaves. When heated in a microwave oven, the heated food can cause the local temperature of the tableware to rise sharply, which may cause:

    1. The temperature exceeds its tolerance limit (usually 120-130°C), causing the product to deform, blister or crack.

    2. In extreme cases of overheating, the polymer structure may be destroyed, potentially releasing hazardous substances.

Question3What is the production process of melamine tableware?

The core technology is high temperature and high pressure compression molding:

    1. Weighing: Put a certain amount of melamine powder into the mold.

    2. Mould closing and pressurizing: The mould is closed at high temperature (140-170°C) and high pressure.

    3. Curing molding: The powder melts, flows and fills the mold under heat and pressure to complete the curing reaction.

    4. Demoulding: Open the mould and take out the finished product.

    5. Polishing and deburring: Post-processing of the finished product to make it smooth.

    Question4What is the production time?

For a 20ft container of solid color products, the production time is around 10-15 days. For colored products, it will take a little longer.

    Question5How are our products packaged?

Our products are packed with two layers. The outer layer is a kraft paper bag, and the inner layer is a plastic bag. This double-layer packaging ensures better protection and the safety of the products during transportation.
